A suggestion, if I may - the tracker page should provide a link to the plugin’s download location on this site to make it easier to find the latest version. Currently, it’s very cumbersome to get back here and look for the plugin’s location.
June 26th, 2007 at 7:25 pm
Your suggestion is valid. We are not sure whether we can provide the link to download location at wp-plugins-db.org site, but definitly we can give a link back to the plugin page so that you can download the plugin from there. Hope it makes sense.

I have a cosmetic request for the next release : can you add the link in the admin panel in the plugins menu instead of the main menu ?

Great plugin, I appreciate it.
My list shows a couple of plugins where you don’t have the latest version in your database as well as a few plugins that you don’t have at all.
How about a submit link, so that you can get information back from users of the plugin about newer versions, missing plugins etc.?
June 28th, 2007 at 11:35 pm
Halina, You are correct. But we need not require to have submit link as we are already getting the required information about the plugin when versions are compared.
Its was just an matter of using them effectively to update existing plugin data and to add new plugins which are missing. so we started using them from yday.
We are updating our DB with those data and you can see the improvements when you use the “WP Plugin Tracker” again. In couple of week time you can see that our DB is 99% accurate.

Hello, it would be better, if only the admin role could see the “WP Plugins Tracker”-page, and maybe it would be better a subpage of plugins than on the top navigation level.
Ciao!

Hi,
I translated the plugin into French. The file is on the page

J’ai traduit le plugin en français, pour ceux qui seraient allergiques à la langue de Shakespeare

Great plugin!!! Thx.
Idea: Consider integrating with one of the auto-unpacking plugins such as the PlugInstaller by hschaefer & angrycamel for an integrated updating solution.

Tanks for a very good plugin which simplifies the work as admin to track and update my plugins.
I have localized the plugin and created a .pot-file. Swedish translation is also created. This can be downloaded below:

I made a minor correction to the above localized plugin to show the buttontext correct. Download at the same link.

I don’t know where to signal that, but “Download Counter” version is out-of-date in your database: the latest is 1.2, you have 1.1
Admin: Thanks for letting us know. We will come to know about this mismatch as soon as you run the Plugin Tracker. But still we need to approve all the mismatches manually… so it can take upto 24 hours.. We are working on improving this timing.

Two things:
1) Bug — The order of the plugins page is alphabetical by “Plugin Name”, not the php file name. To make it look more like the real plugin page please order it the same way.
2) Feature request — How about an RSS feed to show any non-up-to-date plugins? It would be secured by the admin login/password so it should be safe. If you can include the WP version as well, then we’d have one stop shopping for version checks.
Ciao!

Great concept and plugin.
Quick note: You should use =< in the version tracking, because there’s one listed in the WPPDB with the latest version being older than the one for the author’s website, and consequently the on I have installed. Or at least change the comment on it to “Your version seems to be different from the latest one at WPPDB. Check the author’s website for more info!” and should be marked in yellow and not read!
Just a suggestion.
Other than that, you should consider “hooking” with the developer of “One Click Plugin Install” and create an upgrade routine in the tracker.
Keep in touch.

I have a question: I’ve translated the plugin to pt_PT, using as a base the .pot file created for the se_SE translation (thanks Håkan!), and intend to make it available for download for our portuguese speaking users.
But, and following the philosophy of “monitoring”, what’s going to happen when a new version comes out? Are there any plans to make the plugin .pot compatible?

Another suggestion: Check for the latest version of WordPress itself.
Re: Levi Figueira
Doing a direct compare for version numbers is easy to do. Checking if the version is newer or not is very hard. Some version numbers are like 20070901801, others are like 2.1b10, and others like 2.1tt1.1. How do you compare those?
Since there is no convention for these numbers, the best we can do is compare them with a string match.
Ciao!

This plugin is no longer required with WordPress 2.3, is it? That version checks for outdated plugins and outdated WordPress installations, I believe.

Autoupdate to plugins is great idea. Now blog master will not worry about updates.

Hi,
Your plugin is nice, but it has a problem:
If your database of plugins is out of date, it shows as “problem” if I have a new version. For example:
I just updated Akismet from 2.1.4 to 2.1.5. I am up to date, but your database is not. Your plugin does a “if != $current” instead of “if

To track the new releases of the plugins used in their website is something that can save you great deal of time you could use in good manner.

I have to listen to my older fellow bloggers. They say this plugin is a must preventing blog disasters, so here I am.
